The Coldtainer AuO (Autonomous Operation) with battery and charger included, work totally autonomously, without the need for connection to the vehicle.
They are perfect for use on electric professional vehicles for the urban distribution of perishable goods. The e-Delivery with Coldtainer is already a possible and efficient reality. There are currently two versions available for autonomous models: AuO Standard and AuO Lite.

What solutions are available?
The European Commission has envisaged the exclusive sale of zero-emission cars by 2035. To achieve this ambitious goal, the EU has also raised its CO2 reduction target as early as 2030. All major automakers are already converting cars and commercial vehicles to 100% electric.
However, battery-powered traction has important drawbacks if you want to set up an electric professional vehicle with insulation and a traditional refrigeration unit:
- the weight of the fiberglass insulation, which increases the tare weight of the vehicle, decreasing its autonomy;
- the use of electric, high-absorption refrigeration units on the roof, with the need to install dedicated large-capacity batteries, with the relative increases in weight and cost.
Coldtainer AuO models can be used immediately on board standard electric vans, without any modification to the vehicle, guaranteeing daily operations.
Auo standard, non-removable or fixed battery
AuO Standard versions of the Coldtainer F0140, F0330 and F0720 models are available, with a single battery sufficient to operate autonomously during a daily work cycle. The on-board battery can be recharged, thanks to the integrated battery charger, during vehicle stop.
The batteries used are of the VRLA gel type, totally safe, with good resistance to vibrations and a useful life of more than 600 recharge cycles. Battery and charger are contained inside the refrigerator compartment.
The maximum charging time of the built-in battery is approximately 8 hours. The battery charger can also be used to power the Coldtainer, allowing the internal temperature to be maintained.
Auo lite, removable battery
The AuO Lite models, unlike the AuO Standard models, have a removable rechargeable lithium ion battery. A solution that favors the lightness and portability of the fridges and allows the extension of the period of operation thanks to the easy replacement of the battery.
Currently for the T0056 AuO lite and T0082 AuO lite and F0140 AuO lite models there is the possibility to operate the units from different sources, thanks to a red AP 12V socket and a 3-position main switch.
Users therefore have different ways of feeding the containers:
- Connection to AC mains (100-240V AC), to pre-cool the unit or to maintain the internal temperature, using the red/yellow interface to connect the AC/DC power supply to the red HP input of the refrigerator (it is necessary to set the main switch to II). The unit can therefore operate even without the internal lithium-ion battery.
- Connection to the vehicle with 12V operation, via DC cable, which at one end will be connected to the AP input of the refrigerator and at the other to the vehicle’s battery (it is necessary to position the main switch on II).
- Power supply via removable lithium battery (it is necessary to position the main switch on I).
